“Prevention is always more powerful than regret, and healing should never begin only after tragedy.”
Cameron’s Haven, Inc. was created in honor of Cameron Anthony Blake and from the belief that families affected by foster care, trauma, family separation, and housing instability deserve safety, dignity, and meaningful support before crisis becomes tragedy.
The organization is being developed around a structured, communal housing model that combines private family quarters with shared space, trauma-informed support, practical skill-building, and clear expectations. Phase 1 will begin with a small Family Stabilization Housing Program for families with children in Maryland, with future expansion planned only as funding, staffing, and program quality allow.
Adrianne Blake brings firsthand understanding of the child welfare system and the gaps young people face after leaving it. At age 12, after experiencing sexual assault, she entered foster care and remained in care until aging out at 21. Like many young adults leaving foster care, she entered adulthood without the consistent guidance and practical support needed to build stability and struggled to find her footing.
As teenagers, Adrianne and Cameron’s father, Delonte Mack, met through a foster-care independent living program. Those experiences gave her a deeply personal view of how trauma, instability, and inadequate support can follow young people into adulthood.
After losing Cameron, Adrianne transformed her grief and lived experience into a prevention-focused mission: to build the safe, healing-centered village that families and young people are too often expected to find on their own.
