Effective Date: August 13, 2026
This policy explains how Cameron's Haven, Inc. handles charitable contributions made through its website, linked fundraising platforms, events, or other approved methods.
CURRENT TAX STATUS
Cameron's Haven, Inc. is a Maryland nonprofit corporation but has not yet received federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt recognition. Contributions are not currently represented as tax-deductible. This information will be updated when the organization's federal tax-exempt status changes. Donors should consult their own tax adviser regarding the treatment of a contribution.
USE OF CONTRIBUTIONS
Unless Cameron's Haven accepts a specific written restriction, contributions may be used where the Board of Directors determines they are most needed to advance the organization's charitable mission, responsible development, housing preparation, program planning, administration, compliance, fundraising infrastructure, and related operating needs. Public fundraising descriptions communicate intended priorities but do not create a legally restricted gift unless the restriction is expressly accepted in writing by an authorized representative of Cameron's Haven.
THIRD-PARTY PROCESSING
Online contributions may be processed by GoFundMe or another independent payment or fundraising platform. The platform may collect payment information, deduct fees, establish processing timelines, and apply its own terms, privacy policy, and refund procedures. Cameron's Haven does not directly receive or store full payment-card information processed entirely by a third party.
REFUNDS
Charitable contributions are generally final. Refund requests will be reviewed individually when legally permissible and may be granted for circumstances such as a duplicate transaction, processing error, unauthorized transaction, or other documented exceptional circumstance. Approval is not guaranteed. Requests involving a third-party platform may need to be submitted directly to that platform and remain subject to its procedures and control.
To request review, contact admin@cameronshaveninc.org promptly with the donor's name, transaction date, amount, payment platform, and reason for the request. Do not email full card numbers, bank-account numbers, Social Security numbers, or identification documents.
CAMPAIGN CHANGES AND EXCESS FUNDS
Needs, timelines, properties, programs, and fundraising priorities may change as Cameron's Haven develops. Unless a contribution was formally accepted as restricted, funds may be redirected to another mission-consistent purpose if a stated project changes, becomes impracticable, is fully funded, or cannot proceed as originally anticipated.
DONOR RECOGNITION AND PRIVACY
Recognition opportunities, including Founding 100 Donor recognition, are subject to verification, available information, space, and reasonable content standards. Donors may request anonymous public recognition. Cameron's Haven may decline to display a name, logo, message, or link that is misleading, unlawful, discriminatory, threatening, politically partisan, inconsistent with the mission, or likely to imply an endorsement. Recognition is not an ownership interest, governance right, or guarantee of services or influence.
RECEIPTS AND RECORDS
Cameron's Haven or the processing platform may provide an acknowledgment or transaction record. An acknowledgment confirms receipt but does not by itself establish federal tax deductibility. Donors are responsible for retaining their records and obtaining personal tax advice.
